Cave Tours

The spectacular natural entrance of War Eagle Cavern sits in a boxed canyon at the end of Devils’s Gap. Follow the easy, wide open pathway (only a few short step-ups in the entire tour!) along the edges of the stream that flows throughout the cavern, our courteous guide leads the way. The path on this breathtaking adventure wanders throughout huge rooms while the guide explains the incredible “domes” and other formations located in the first half-mile of this huge cavern. The cavern stays at a constant 58 degrees year-round, with wide level stroller, pet friendly walkways and friendly, story-telling guides, making it the perfect adventure for the entire family. Tours leave the trading post every 20 minutes throughout the season.

Kids and adults alike have fun panning for semi-precious gems at the water sluice in the War Eagle Mining Company. We have taken the work out of mining for you – just buy a bag of what looks like plain old “dirt” in the trading post, then sift through it at our water sluice to find over 20 different kinds of stones … and keep everything you find! The gems have been gathered from mines all over the world: Rubies, Amethyst, Emeralds, Sapphires, Topaz – even Arkansas Crystal! We guarantee over 8 ounces of treasure in every bag, and even provide a bag to put the stones in, along with an identification card to identify each stone when you get home.

It takes skill, cunning, patience and a sense of adventure to figure out the Lost in the Woods Maze!
Not only do you have to find your way through over a half-mile of twists and turns in the wooden stockade maze nestled among the trees, you must find FIVE lost Indian tribes inside the maze! When you have found each Indian tribe punch the ticket next to the name of the tribe, and push on to the next one! When you have completed the ticket, head for the Exit (wherever that is). Write down your time at the entrance and see how long you take figuring it all out, or race your friends to see who can get through the fastest. Think you did good – see if you can do it again! Guaranteed good times!
Just $3.00 with the purchase of a cavern tour!

Start your adventure at the Trading Post, where our friendly staff will get you on the next available tour and answer any questions you may have. The trading post is an amazing place, with many unique gift and souvenir items for every age. Delight in beautiful wall hangings and one-of-a-kind natural art pieces, as well as inexpensive, fun keepsakes. Mom will love the jewelry created with gemstones from around the world, Dad will take his time checking out the amazing selection of natural show pieces and keepsakes (and an incredible selection of pocket and collectible knives), and the kids will love the woodland plush animals, individual stones, wooden guns, swords, toy animals, and souvenirs.
The Trading Post features copies of the movie “Frank and Jesse”, featuring scenes from inside the cavern as well as the surrounding countryside, and starring Rob Lowe, Randy Travis, and Bill Paxton. The movie set is still set up in the cavern; and, with a little prompting, guests can be treated to a few funny behind-the-scenes stories.
After the tour, exploring the woods, panning for gems and conquering the maze, everyone will be ready for a snack! The trading post features ice cream, jerky, candy, chips, as well as Lost Trail specialty sodas. It’s the perfect end to a wonderful day!
