What a birthday present!! We took our ten-year old on a wild tour for his birthday. We had an unforgettable time - it was a family adventure he will remember all his life. You all are great! One very impressed parent My cousin and I toured your cavern last week and I just wanted to make sure you knew how wonderful our guide Al was. There was a family with our group that had small children and he was very patient with them and made sure they had a fantastic time. He allowed them to use his flashlight and peer into holes. Beneath the Surface of our World, There are Wonders Beyond Compare! Explore the cavern beyond the lights! Our Spelunker Tour begins where the public tour leaves off … under the 3 foot high, 85 foot long tunnel - into the mysteries that lay beyond! If you have a couple of hours and a sense of adventure, this tour is for you! Two hour tours available via reservation only. Four people minimum, 10 people maximum. Must be at least 4 foot tall. A Guide accompanies the group, but the group leads the way. The Guide points out several possible passageways, and makes sure everyone stays safe; he also has the authority to end the tour at any time (hypothermia, injury, vandalism, or rowdy behavior, etc.). Our Spelunking Tour is mildly strenuous. The cavern continues into the mountain for miles, but is fairly level. You will most likely experience huge colonies of bats, and guaranteed - You will get wet and muddy! Arrive dressed in your spelunking tour clothes: Jeans or pants, NO SHORTS, hiking boots that will get wet, and layer a jacket, long sleeve shirt and T-shirt. Gloves, kneepads, and a sturdy flashlight and backup are MANDATORY! You may want a small pack to carry a water bottle, a power bar, and extra batteries. A change of clothes, socks, and shoes are highly recommended. Also bring a plastic bag for your dirty clothes. A helmet is not mandatory, but a good idea.
